1. The Dark Knight – One of the best movies I have seen in recent times. This movies was perfect in all respect – storyline, acting, screenplay, thrill. Heath Ledger would be remembered for his performance forever. This movie has set a very high benchmark for movies to come.
2. Wall-E – A animation movie with emotions, this subject is really hard to make a movie with, but this was made easy in Wall-e. Another great aspect of the movie was very less dialogues, just using the gestures to display emotions was great.
3. Cloverfield – A very good sci-fi movie, today we associate a sci-fi movie with high quality animation where a lot of money is spent of sets. This movie was different, shot with a different camera setting (looked like amateur video style or similar to Bourne Ultimatum) which added to the thrill and fun of the movie.
4. Taken – A very good thriller which was underrated. Taken did not have the new age gadgets, babes or car chase sequences but it was the old style thriller.
5. 21 – A good story along with good performances from Kevin Spacey and Laurence Fishburne. A bit of better screenplay and a bit of pace could have made it perfect.
6. Iron Man – A pure action flick for the superhero lovers, it was a perfect
solution to people complaining about lack of action from Spiderman/Superman movies.
7. Quantum of Solace – Another excellent Bond thriller, a good performance by Daniel Craig. This movie seemed to be a continuation of Casino Royale, it was not as good though. Must watch for Bond movie lovers.
8. Speed Racer – Excellent animation, thriller and a totally new way of story telling.
9. Kung-fu Panda – A different kind of animation movie, over last few years we have animation movies with similar story lines, jokes and it was becoming a routine, but this movie showed the path to next generation animation.
10. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - This movie was good, people did not like it much because of the expectations but definitely deserves to be in top ten.
Notable mentions: Vantage Point, Pineapple Express, You don’t mess with the Zohan, Zack and Miri make a Porno, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, How to lose friends and alienate people and Yes Man.
